HTS will operate on a modified schedule. The school day will begin at 8:20am and students will be dismissed at 12:45pm. Teachers will be available for office hours from 1:15pm - 3:15pm or on a different schedule that is communicated by individual teachers to his/her students.
Students arriving on the bus will have their temperature taken upon disembarking by an HTS faculty member. If a bus student is found to have a temperature, he/she will be taken to the isolation room, where the temperature will be retaken after a few minutes. If the temperature persists, the student’s parents will be notified to come and retrieve the student.
Students arriving in the car line (elementary or middle school) will remain in the car to have temperatures taken by an HTS faculty member. Parents are asked to remain in the car. If any child in the car registers a temperature, the family will be asked to park and wait a few minutes for a temperature retake. If the temperature persists, the child and any siblings will be sent home.
To accommodate the number of cars in the car line, we will open the car line at 8am. We ask everyone to be patient as we take steps to ensure the safety of all.
Students in grades K-4 will wait on the blacktop. Each class will have dots, 6 feet distanced, for the students to stand on.
Grade 5 students will wait in the amphitheatre, also on dots 6 feet distanced.
Grades 6, 7, and 8 will enter the middle school through the band room entrance and will wait in designated areas with faculty supervision.
To help us enforce social distancing guidelines, we are asking parents to remain in their cars until the students are visible at which point they can escort their children quickly to the car, without socializing. We will send further information about dismissal and what doors each grade will be dismissed from.
As dismissal is at 12:45pm, lunch will not be included in our school day. Students are permitted to bring a school-safe snack (no peanuts or tree nuts). Students eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch will have the option to have lunch delivered directly to their home.
Work Family Connection will offer a limited amount of spots for child care from 12:45pm to 6:30pm. For program related questions please contact Erin Monaghan at (908) 455-2901. For any registration or billing questions please contact the WFC main office at (908) 534-5935.
Integrated Preschool Program
Students attending the district’s half-day integrated preschool program morning session will receive live in-person instruction from 8:45am-10:15am, Monday through Friday. Students attending the afternoon program will receive instruction from 11:00 am-12:30pm, Monday through Friday. Please note that thorough cleaning and sanitizing of the classroom and materials will occur during the 45 minute break between sessions. In addition to the in-person instruction, there will be thirty minutes of virtual synchronous or asynchronous instruction each school day. This virtual instruction will allow for larger group instructional activities designed to facilitate generalization of skills across settings.
