HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION FOR 8TH GRADE FAMILIES
Dear Parents,
Welcome to your child's 8th grade year!
Although we just started back to school, it is time to begin thinking about the different options for high school: Madison High School, Morris County Vocational Academy Programs, or private high schools. There are many important timelines, and I ask for your cooperation in meeting the upcoming deadlines, depending on schools.
MADISON HIGH SCHOOL
The registration and scheduling process for Madison High School (MHS) generally takes place during February and March. This is a multi-step process that will culminate in course selection and a scheduling conference for each student and his/her parent(s) with a MHS guidance counselor at HTS.
Please be aware that important paperwork will be sent home with your child and/or emailed over the next few months. We thank you in advance for completing all forms thoroughly and returning them by the specified deadlines to ensure a smooth transition for you and your child.
MORRIS COUNTY VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
The Morris County Vocational School District (MCVSD) offers students a unique opportunity to attend a local public high school while receiving education and training in a specialty field of their interest.

PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOLS
If your child is interested in applying to one or more private high schools, please supply me (either electronically or hard-copy) with requests for letters of recommendation and transcripts as soon as possible.
Please be aware of each school’s application deadline – many are in late November/early December. We ask for at least 2 weeks advance notice to be able to ensure that your child’s transcripts and recommendations arrive by the deadline.
