At age three, the Harding Township School District is responsible for the evaluation of preschool youngsters who demonstrate a developmental delay. If eligible, preschool children with a disability are offered enrollment in our Integrated Preschool Program. The preschool is comprised of both children with special needs and typically developing preschoolers. Transportation is provided by the District, when requested by the parents.
The “Husky Pups” class meets five days a week in the a.m. (8:30-11:15am) or p.m. (11:45-3:00pm, which includes lunch).
Our teacher, Mrs. Jackie Looloian, is certified as both a preschool teacher and a teacher of students with disabilities. She is assisted by one or more Teacher Assistants, depending on the class size.
We maintain a low student-teacher ratio and use a multi-sensory, interdisciplinary curriculum to promote school readiness skills. Speech-Language services, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy may be provided depending on the individual needs of the child. Our typical schedule includes Morning Calendar, small group activities centered on language acquisition, fine and gross motor skills and playtime. In addition, students participate in specials such as Art, Music and P.E. “Husky Pups” also enjoy exciting experiences throughout the year, such as a visit from the New Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, a field trip to Crewe Hill Horse Stables, hatching chicks in the classroom, and cooking lessons.
We look forward to your child enjoying an enriching and fun learning experience in the Husky Pups program.
