At age three, the Harding Township School is responsible for the evaluation of preschool youngsters who demonstrate a developmental delay. If eligible, preschool children with a disability are offered enrollment in our Inclusion Preschool Program. Speech-Language, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy services may be provided depending on the individual needs of the child.
Our inclusion preschool is comprised of both children with special needs and typically developing preschoolers. The program runs 5 days per week in either AM (8:30-11:15) or PM (11:45-3:00) sessions including lunch. In an atmosphere of “We All Belong,” children with and without disabilities are provided with learning opportunities to facilitate academic and social success! Our teacher, Mrs. Jackie Looloian, is certified as both a preschool teacher and a teacher of students with disabilities. She is assisted by one or more Teacher Assistants, depending on the class size.
We maintain a low student-teacher ratio and use a multi-sensory, interdisciplinary curriculum to promote school readiness skills. Our typical schedule includes Morning Calendar, small group activities centered on language acquisition, fine and gross motor skills and playtime. In addition, students participate in specials such as library, art, music, and P.E. The Inclusion Preschool students also enjoy exciting experiences throughout the year, such as a visit from the New Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, a field trip to Crewe Hill Horse Stables, hatching chicks in the classroom, and cooking lessons.
We look forward to your child enjoying an enriching and fun learning experience in the Inclusion Preschool program.
