Abstract Doodle Paintings
Fourth graders looked at the art of various abstract artists such as Keith Haring, Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso before beginning this unit. They completed a series of exercises as inspiration before beginning their abstract watercolor paintings. First they just did a series of doodle patterns in line and then some duplication of progressively difficult black and white designs. Most students chose one of their designs to enlarge on watercolor paper, outlining it with Sharpie markers before painting their final art with watercolor.
