Valuable Snowmen

Fourth graders reviewed the difference between a shade and a tint of a color before
painting their unusually colored snow people, but first they painted a background
with a snow bank, snowflakes and clouds. Then they chose a color to paint their snow people.
They progressively added more white to each snow person to get
a lighter tinted snow person each time.
Then, for the details of each snow person, black was carefully added to their base color,
with the only exception being orange for the traditional carrot nose.
I think the paintings turned out wonderfully considering such a limited palette of color was used.
